Sugar Makes You Stupid

"

Binging on food with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) for 6 weeks may make you stupid. Studies on rats published in the May 2012 Journal of Physiology showed that HFCS over this time period was associated with slow brain function and hampered memory and learning abilities. What you eat affects how you think! Previous studies showed that fructose increases the risk for type 2 diabetes obesity and fatty liver. The average American consumes between 40 and 60 pounds of HFCS every year.

HFCS and sugar are handled differently by the body. Fructose turns to fat more readily than glucose. They also act differently in the brain where glucose decreased food intake and fructose increases food intake because fructose induces leptin resistance which leads to lack of satiety.
